Tesco's licensing application - comment by April 7

Organisers say they’ve also invited Tesco representatives and other speakers to attend.
The meeting takes place from 7pm on Tuesday, March 26 at All Hallows Church Hall in Midanbury.
“The purpose is to provide a platform where locals can have a say about the future development of their community and the area they live in, in regard to the Tesco / Castle pub site,” said Vicky, who works at the SNA supermarket at Witts Hill.
“We have many residents coming into our shop asking about the plans for the Castle pub site; previously we had a meeting with Tesco where only ten people could attend. When this happened we had a overwhelming response and many people wanted to attend to have a say,” she said.
Itchen Labour MP John Denham asked whether locals really want another off-licence selling drink for 18 hours a day:
Residents can object
“One way residents can act now is to contact the Licensing Team at the City Council to object to Tesco's proposal to sell alcohol between 6am and midnight. The street does not need three off-licences and residents have genuine concerns about anti-social behaviour.
"This public meeting will allow residents to have their say on this issue and the many other problems a Tesco Express store may bring to Midanbury,” said Mr Denham.
You can view the licensing application and comment, now by April 7, 2013, via the council’s ‘public access’ site from this link. The consultation period has been extended "due to the applicant not advertising the application correctly so to ensure the required notification period has been complied with," according to a council spokesperson.
