Police say the boy walked to Witts Hill from Mousehole Lane at 7.30pm on Monday, January 20. He saw a group of around eight or nine youths near the junction of Vanguard Road at the bus stop, who started to shout abuse at him.

The boy tried to avoid the group and use his phone to call a friend, but as he did so he was forced to the ground, punched and kicked, and his Samsung Galaxy phone taken.

Investigating Officer DC Chris Moss said: “Members of the group responsible are all described as male and around 16-years-old, however the victim is unable to provide specific details of facial features.

“He was left with nasty injuries as a result of this attack and I’d urge anyone who may have seen what happened to contact us”.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Chris Moss at Bitterne CID on 101. You can also call the charity Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
