Bitterne Park Primary School suffered an attack from vandals last weekend (Sept 13/14) which it says is just one in a series of incidents, and is appealing for neighbours to report any suspicious activity they spot in the future.
The weekend saw ‘visitors’ enter the playground and spread around oil-based paint, which it’s thought they brought with them for the purpose, as it’s known not to belong to a team currently working on the site.
Chemicals and elbow grease have so far failed to shift the graffiti.

And the school reports that it regularly gets vandals ruining the early years’ area, with "everything from human excrement in the sand pit through to a doll being strung up by the neck at the door" (pictured).
“We would make a plea for local residents to keep a watchful eye over our school,” said executive headteacher Gerida Montague. “If they have any concerns then please call 101 and report to the police. Obviously we try to keep as much of the vandalism away from the children by clearing it away as soon as we can, but sometimes that is not possible when items are damaged and play equipment is removed from them.”
