Did you know that the Mecca Bingo hall - the old Broadway Cinema in Portswood - is not a listed building? You may be surprised, at the number of distinctive local buildings that are not protected, leaving them vulnerable to alteration and redevelopment.
There are examples of ancient monuments on our patch as well as some buildings, structures and spaces considered worthy of protection by "listing", which actively prevents alteration or demolition.
