See Ann’s hands in the Old Chemist

hand sculptureThe window of the Old Chemist’s Shop in Bitterne Park Triangle is the most recent location for a local artist's dramatic sculptures of hands.

Ann MacGillivray has been carving hands over five years, and says her work reflects the demise of the value of the manual worker. They depict the muscles built up through sheer physical hard work, she says, and are in a variety of poses, each one expressive in its own way.

The sculptures are carved from limestone from Purbeck in Dorset, and are on display for two months. Although not for sale, any enquiries regarding the work should be directed to Ann on 07747 844038, or you can This email address is being protected from spambots.
