New planning permission is being sought for previously fire-damaged Harcourt Mansions, as well as for the Old Boat House and at the Londis site in Oaktree Road.
At 74 Whitworth Crescent, the scene of previous protests about flats, and a fire in December 2008, planning is being requested for redevelopment of the site, and the “erection of a part 3-storey part 2-storey building comprising 3x2-bed houses, 1x3-bed house and 3x2-bed flats with associated parking and cycle/refuse storage.

Meanwhile McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd are applying for planning permission to redevelop the Old Boathouse site on Cobden Bridge, and for the “erection of a part 4, part 5, and part 6-storey building to provide 56 sheltered housing flats for the elderly (Category II type - 42 x one bedroom and 14 x two bedroom units) and a separate building fronting Whitworth Crescent to provide 5 flats with associated parking and a riverside walk”.
