Apple Day at Cobbet Road Library

appleFriends of Cobbett Road Library are holding their third Apple Day in the Library Community Room this Saturday (October 9).

• Features children's storytime at 11 am! •

Apple Day, an idea linking environment and culture, was first proposed by the environmental charity Common Ground 21 years ago and has grown ever since. All events held across Britain are organised by local people, each with their own individual take on the theme.

If you’d like to come to Cobbett Road Library between 10.30am and 12.30pm, you can sample apple juice and apple cake, see books and displays, pick up recipe sheets and participate in the Longest Peel Contest. Children’s story-time is at 11am. Don’t forget to bring your spare apples (or pears and plums) to swap or share.

For other Apple Day events, and a bit more about the history of this event see the Common Ground website.
