Detectives are warning parents to make sure children know what to do if approached by a stranger, following two attempted abductions in the city in the past month — one at Witts Hill on March 10, between 8pm and 8.45pm. {!jomcomment}In both cases the victims were teenage girls who were approached by a man in a car who tried to entice them into his vehicle.
Detective Inspector Charlie Rimmer said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have been approached in similar circumstances, or seen anything suspicious relating to either of these two incidents — this information could be crucial in identifying the person responsible.”
“It is important to always make sure you are aware of what is going on around you, and for parents to make sure their children know exactly what to do if a stranger does approach them. Under no circumstances should a child get into a stranger's car.
A 32-year-old Southampton man has been arrested in connection with both incidents and has been assisting police with their enquiries.
