Police helicopter search following aggravated burglary in St Denys
Police say the search taking place around St Denys today (March 23) follows an attack on a man in his home by three others.
At around 9 am three men called on a house in Collier Close, forced their way in and attacked a man inside. It’s not thought to have been a random attack.
Police were called to the scene and one man ran off. Two other men then made off from the scene. It’s thought one was carrying a machete type weapon. Police gave chase and the men made off in the direction of the railway line. Officers assisted by the police helicopter have been searching the area for the men since.
Officers are advising people if they see any of the men that may have been involved not to approach them but to call the police immediately on 999. They would also like to hear from anyone if they find out unusual items in the area as its thought the three men threw some items away as they ran off.
They are also appealing for any witnesses to the incident in Collier Close or anyone who may have seen the men responsible hanging around the area prior to the aggravated burglar.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bitterne CID on 101 or to contact any of the officers who are currently in the area or call 999 if they think they know where the men responsible are.
