Woodmill Bridge closed to traffic

Police said three young men were seen getting out of the car. Two made off and another is helping with enquiries.

As a result of the incident the Triangle was clogged with cars trying to use Cobden Bridge, with a jam on Manor Farm Road. Southampton Travel tweeted there were delays inbound towards St Denys Road and Cobden Avenue following the closure, which is expected to continue overnight.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.37pm to reports that a car had collided with a commercial property in Woodmill Lane, Southampton, blocking the road.

"Three young men were seen getting out of the vehicle, two made off and enquiries are ongoing to locate them.

"One 14-year-old boy, believed to have been in the car (A silver Nissan Micra), has been located and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

"No-one has been reported injured at this time.

"We closed the road so the vehicle could be recovered and are working with partner agencies to make sure the building is safe.

"The investigation is ongoing.”

The route is still open for pedestrians.
