The cafe, which was originally crowdfunded, concocts tasty dishes mainly from food that would otherwise have been discarded by traders.
The group intends to resume opening weekly on Mondays, back in the community space at October Books on Portswood Road.
They said in a Facebook post: “Finally, we are looking forward to OPENING again, every Monday from11.45am - 4pm, from June 28th. Please do come in to see us (via the front door of October Books ) get yourself a tasty vegan lunch, and chat as much as you like, & maybe a bit of huggin' an kissin' do get in touch if you fancy helping in any way!”
Team member Giulia Gigliotti explained in our previous piece in October 2019: “As well as spreading a vegan and environmental message, the Café will provide a space to promote strong community links, combat loneliness and social isolation, reduce food waste and encourage healthy eating at low cost.”
The team are also looking for new volunteers, for everything from collecting food, setting up and serving to creating exciting meals. You can get in touch via Facebook.
