Police appeal following cash-in-transit robbery in Bitterne

It took place around 10.22am on Wednesday (June 23).in Angel Crescent, Bitterne.

Two men on a motorbike approached a Loomis security guard from behind as he made his way from Corals back to his van.

The passenger got off the motorbike and grabbed the cash box whilst threatening the security guard with a knife.   

The two men made off on the motorbike with the cash box.

The first man is described as white, between 25 to 40 years old, approximately 5ft 8 inches tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black helmet with red on it, a black puffer or bomber jacket and black trousers.
 
The second man is described as white, between 25 to 40 years old and of slim build. He was wearing a black jacket with black trousers and a black, scrambler or off road style helmet without a visor. It also had a yellow section on the front. 

The motorbike, that has since been recovered, is described as an off road scrambler or dirt bike with off road tyres. It was black with a black panel on the front.  

A police spokesperson said: “Were you in the area at around the time of the incident? Did you see anything suspicious?

“Do you recognise the descriptions above? Perhaps you were driving in the area and have some dash-cam footage?

“If you witnessed anything suspicious or have any dash cam footage which may assist our investigation, please call 101 and quote 44210246394.
