Those aged 16-22 years, and those under 16 years, are being invited to make a brief (3-5mins) video using their phones.
The deadline is October 1, 2021.
“Make a video (max 3-5 mins) on your mobile phone, all about the River Itchen. You can tell us what you love about the river or highlight an issue that needs tackling, such as pollution or climate change,” says the brief on the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust website, where you can find more details.
The competition is in memory of Victoria Harrison. Her daugher Henrietta Harrison commented: "It is wonderful that we can hold this competition because my mother always loved children and young people and usually thought that everything they did was wonderful. For many years our kitchen cupboards were covered not only with our art works but those of other children she had met. She was also a great lover of nature, and especially birds.
"In her last days she liked to sit with the dog on a bench at the end of the garden looking up the river, which provided her with an endless source of interest as she watched the fish rising and birds coming and going and hoped to see a kingfisher. I am sure she would have hugely enjoyed seeing the videos we hope to get for this competition, but she would have had great difficulty judging them because she would undoubtedly have thought they were all brilliant."
