Police have arrested a man on suspicion of theft from motor vehicle following a report on Wednesday (Sept 8) that a man had been trying car door handles in the Mead Crescent area, near Woodmill Lane.

Officers carried out a search and say they located a man acting suspiciously in Manor Farm Road. They subsequently carried out a search of the man and found a large amount of coins, sunglasses, airpods and a torch in his possession.
Officers also found a vehicle on Manor Farm Road that was insecure and had been searched, but nothing was taken.
A 48-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
