The ever popular Thorold Road Haunted House will be back again for this year’s Halloween, as usual raising cash for charity Abby’s Heroes.

Despite the pandemic, those visiting Liam Arscott’s Haunted House on the Hill still managed to raise £550 last year.
“Which was less than normal but last year was obviously a challenging year!” he told bitternepark.info. In 2019 a whopping £1115 was raised for Abby's Heroes from an ambitious display - you can see some pictures in our report from the time.
So what’s in store this year?
We don’t know too much yet, but Liam, who starts preparing months beforehand, did say: “The singing pumpkins are back… And you will have to enter through Dr Frankenstein’s castle.”

Cobden Bridge Co-op display from 2019
Cobden Bridge Co-op will be helping out with sweets again this year, and Liam will also be decorating their window again for the run up.
It’s all sounding pretty scary already, but you’ll have to wait until 5.30pm on Sunday, October 31 to see the full Haunted House display, at 48 Thorold Road. And you might not want to risk being the one who forgets to take some change for Abby’s Heroes...
Meanwhile, as we mentioned last week, a ‘family friendly’ Halloween neighbourhood trail of decorated houses is also planned for Bitterne Park and St Denys. We may not all take it quite as far as Liam, but anyone can join in – more details here.
