"What is so frustrating is lack of consultation with community"
The Triangle Co-op, officially known as the ‘Cobden Bridge’ branch, is advising customers to spend their Co-op membership rewards before it shuts next month.

A window poster says: “We’ll be closing our doors on 20/11/21 @ 6pm So be sure to spend your Co-op membership rewards before then.
“Or find your nearest store at finder.coop.co.uk/food”.

We searched for you: the nearest branches appear to be at Commercial Road, Archers Road, High Street, Freemantle, Ocean Village, Sholing and Woolston – hardly ideal for Bitterne Parkers to ‘convenience shop’, so now may indeed be a good time to claim any accumulated rewards.
As we noted earlier this month, Co-op shops at Midanbury and Portswood are long gone.
As previously reported, following its closure the shop is to reopen as a Spar – it’s understood (although unconfirmed) only a few days later. on November 25, according to a poster in the shop.
“… [W]e are delighted to be able to retain the staff, grow the retail offer and provide vital convenience services for the local community,” a spokesperson for Appleby Westward, the regional distribution company for around 300 Spar stores in the south west, previously told us.

Co-op - here for us "in Cobden Bridge". But not for much longer
As also previously noted, many aren’t too happy about losing their local Co-op. As local resident and co-operative development worker Nathan Brown tweeted in response to the closure news:
“What is so frustrating is lack of consultation with community, customers & importantly Members who are supposed to be @coopuk owners. If there were problems we could have provided solution. As a Member, I have now been denied access to trade with the business”.
