Marking the start of the UK-hosted COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow, which runs from from October 31 to November 12, “People everywhere must make them understand the urgency and act now,” says FoE on their Facebook event page.
“Bring a torch or lantern and anything that can be banged or rung to make a loud noise – a bell, saucepan or bucket - and meet from 5pm at the ramp into Riverside Park from Bitterne Triangle (sic). At 5.30 torches and lanterns will be lit, then we will move onto Cobden Bridge. At 5:58 there will be a 2 minute silence, and then at 6pm we will make a noise loud enough to be heard by local politicians and in Glasgow.”
More details on the Facebook event page.
FoE are also holding a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on November 6, assembling from 12pm for 1pm at Guildhall Square in Southampton.
