As reported, Rio’s Piri Piri is applying for the change of use of the former bookshop to a hot food takeaway, which will include installation of an extract flue at the rear. .

The outlet intends to open from 7.30am to 11.30pm every day, according to planning documents.

The application has sparked some discussion about the number of “eateries offering takeaway services in the road" (29 according to the Daily Echo), and the ability of the planning system to facilitate a broader range of shops in district centres.

The Planning and Rights of Way Panel meets on November 23 from 4pm. The meeting can be watched online.
