Residents won’t need to book from Monday, December 27 – although you will if you’re planning a visit to any other Hampshire waste and recycling centres.

The council said it’s hoped the removal of the booking system will help reduce fly-tipping, which it says has increased in recent years.

It added that over the last three months a third of booked slots at Millbrook weren’t taken up, while others failed to turn up at their pre-booked time, or were turned away because they hadn’t booked.

“This has caused frustration for residents who want to dispose of household waste responsibly,” said the authority.

There’s more information about the Millbrook centre on the council’s website
