Community Action Forum likely to fold

Following a poorly attended AGM on February 21, the Bitterne Park, Townhill Park & Midanbury Community Action Forum will have to fold unless new people come forward to take the Group on.

“It is with great regret that we wish to inform residents that the AGM held Tuesday February21, at the Baptist Hall was so poorly attended that there was no alternative but to fold the committee.

Robbie Robinson has held the Chair now for the past two years and due to ill health wishes to stand down; unfortunately even though the meeting was publicised there was no one that wished to take over the Chair.

We are happy to inform residents of the attendance at the meeting of Mr Martin Chase of SCC.  Martin looks after the play areas in the City.  Martin informed the Group of Ł17.5K that he had earmarked for one of the playareas in Townhill Park.  It was decided that the money was best spent revamping the Meggeson Avenue play area.  This is to be enlarged, and new equipment put in aimed at younger children rather than teenagers.  The old equipment will be left in the play area for the time being until more money can be found to remove and replace it.

It was decided by the Group that any remaining funds in the CAF Group bank account should be given to Martin for more play equipment.

If anyone is interested in reforming the Group, please contact Robbie on 023 8055 1810.”
