Mettricks, which runs food and drink outlets at Guildhall Square and Woolston, has confirmed it’s planning to open a branch in the former Lloyds bank premises in Portswood this spring.

It’s the building opposite Sainsbury’s that most recently housed Baffi pizza restaurant. That closed in January 2020 after only around two and a half years, blaming rising business rates and a rent increase.

Before that the building was a Lloyds Bank, which finally closed in August 2015.

Mettricks said on Facebook  it will be “a place to meet friends for brunch, grab a great tasting coffee, slip away to study or head out for dinner & a cocktail - or two!”

It was issued with a premises licence earlier this month.
