It’s the building opposite Sainsbury’s that most recently housed Baffi pizza restaurant. That closed in January 2020 after only around two and a half years, blaming rising business rates and a rent increase.

Before that the building was a Lloyds Bank, which finally closed in August 2015.

Mettricks said on Facebook  it will be “a place to meet friends for brunch, grab a great tasting coffee, slip away to study or head out for dinner & a cocktail - or two!”

It was issued with a premises licence earlier this month.
