Parts of Riverside Park have been cordoned off by police, who appeared to be collecting forensic evidence on Wednesday morning (March 9) following a reported rape.

Around six police vehicles were seen near to the scene in the park at the Woodmill end.
Police say they were called on Tuesday evening .
In a statement they said: “We were called at 11.24pm yesterday (February [March] 8) to a report of a rape against an 18-year-old woman in Southampton.
“The incident is said to have happened yesterday evening in Riverside Park.
“A [crime] scene is currently in place there and officers continue to carry out enquiries.
“The woman is being supported by specialist officers.”
