St Denys Road still bollarded off eastbound at about midday Friday
Updated: Southern Gas Networks (SGN) have said that they are hoping to reopen the eastbound lane on St Denys Road between Portswood and Thomas Lewis Way later today - although it depends on whether the road is ready for traffic, particularly given the heat.

While work was finished last week it seems the hot weather has delayed reopening.
“We don’t want to open it up too early, have traffic going over it, and then it creates pot holes,” an SGN spokesperson said, “so we’re giving it the right amount of time to cure, we were looking at doing it yesterday, but we realised it wasn’t hard enough to be set, so we’re aiming to go back again the same sort of time this afternoon – about mid afternoon.”
They said after this they’d contact the council with an update. The spokesperson said they were hoping it might be open before the rush hour.
There was some confusion yesterday when it’s thought the council tweeted that the road would be reopening, but contractors then decided it wasn’t ready.
Elsewhere in St Denys Priory Road is again closed for work on the railway bridge.
Same, tweet appears to have been deleted. All holes have been filled but road still closed
