Police say when it failed to stop officers tracked it, eventually bringing it to a halt in Manor Farm Road.

A 29-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst unfit through drink, and driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He remains in custody at the time of writing.

Online reports suggest a number of police vehicles were involved in the operation.

Manor Farm Road was closed for a short period between Dimond Road and Wellington Road last night during the incident.
