Adult Learning Festival on Saturday

An ‘Adult Learning Festival’ takes place from 11am-4pm on Saturday (May 14) at Southampton Central Library and the Art Gallery, with follow on activities at the Art House Gallery Café.

Organisations from across the south will be on hand to talk to residents about learning opportunities, including anything from arts and crafts and singing to computers and Tai Chi. Taster sessions will also be staged throughout the event.

The festival, organised by TWICS (Training for Work in Communities), Southampton City Council, and a volunteer team of Community Learning Champions, is in its 20th year.

Here’s what’s happening:
* Taster activities are taking place all day in the Library and Art Gallery including beading, knitting, card making, first aid, drawing, storytelling, photography, flower making, and more.
* Family activities are taking place in the Children’s Library, as well as an Andy Warhol themed activity (from 1.30pm) in the Education Room.
* The Learning Centre (1st floor, Library) is open for computers and IT use, and information on English and maths courses.
*Information stands and displays are sited around the Library. The Information Desk has the full list.
*The Art House Gallery Café (178 Above Bar Street) also has a programme of free activities including Origami, limericks, cookie making and drawing.
