The ‘Gorillas site’ – previously Blockbuster – in Portswood appears to be available to let following the recent departure of the on-demand grocery delivery company.

It's thought Gorillas only opererated from the premises for around a year.
Described as an “iconic property” in a “Prominent Position in an Affluent Area” with a “Large Student Population” by agents Keygrove [their initial caps], the c400m square metre property is advertised at £65,000 a year.
Gorillas, headquartered in Germany, had been operating from 133 Portswood Road for its local bike delivery operation (delivery target time for groceries and alcohol: 10 minutes). It now only advertises London and Manchester for UK deliveries, although it’s also active in several other countries.
The company told bitternepark.info it had no plans to set up another outlet in Southampton.
“As Gorillas seeks to achieve sustainable maturity, we constantly evaluate the performance of all our warehouses, and focus on the most profitable locations,” said a spokesperson.
“This is why, after carefully evaluating the different strategic options, we recently made the decision to close operations of our Portswood located warehouse. At present there are no future plans to establish a location within the city.”
The Blockbuster DVD rental store closed at the Portswood site in March 2013.
