“This year we were so lucky to have student bands, Groove Foundation, Groove Merchant, Backlash and Helicopter Pirates,” reported the school.
“YouTubers Max and Harvey then took to the stage to really get the crowd going. To finish the event we were so lucky to have local Southampton rapper Tyrone join us.
“After all the performances the students were able to take photos and meet the artists. This was an incredible end to a fantastic year. We are already looking forward to next year’s ‘Big Picnic’!”
Assistant headteacher Paul Overton thanked all the artists who had performed, and the school said it had received a “fantastic response" from parents, including: “My daughter came home absolutely buzzing!! Thank you all so much for the monumental effort you put into this to make it happen, just brilliant!”; “A big thank you for giving my son and his band the opportunity to play! Such an amazing experience! Just brilliant!”; and “Thanks for a super end year celebration. Our boys absolutely loved it.”
