Bitterne Park Stores closed during August to add more refill stations and a new cheese counter.

Now owner Robin Bluemel says it is “all go for Tuesday”.
He said a new dry goods dispensary was still “probably a week or two off”, but the “cheese counter, new wine range, huge liquid refill station, herb garden should be go,” along with the store’s usual ranges of “veggies, local produce, ethical groceries, fine foods and more”.
Much of the refit has been made with reclaimed wood, and it includes two new rather lovely outside tables where you can even sit and enjoy a drink from the extensive selection.

Il Picchio was opened in 2006 by Sandro Filipik, and changed hands in 2015. Sandro tragically died in a cycling collision a year later. Before Il Picchio, the cafe traded as Amelie’s Food Emporium, and specialised in chocolate.
Meanwhile over Manor Farm Road some work appears to be taking place in the former Flower Boutique (and before that, Barnardo’s) shop, which was recently being advertised for let. Future use? It's thought that it's to have a new shop front and will become a barber's.
