Following additional monitoring of the performance of the traffic signals along the Woodmill bridge corridor, and with the return to school and increase in traffic with wet weather, the decision has been made to extend the weekday time until 8.30pm until further notice.

Bitterne Park ward councillor David Fuller (Con), said: “Given the impact of the works on Thomas Lewis Way and St Denys Road this is a sensible decision, it is just a shame it has taken this long to be implemented.”

While the traffic lights are in operation, it can take much longer for pedestrians to cross Woodmill Lane on either side on the bridge due to the flow of traffic. How much have the needs of pedestrians been factored into this decision @SouthamptonCC @D_J_Fuller?

We understand “The impact” will continue to be monitored during the work, which is due to last until early December in different ‘phases’, and signal times could be revised in response.
