Ofsted’s report said the Quayside Road school’s motto, ‘Learning to be the best we can’, is “reflected in every aspect of school life”.
It continued: “Teachers and support staff work together to help every pupil to achieve. Pupils behave well in lessons. They are motivated to work hard because they enjoy their lessons and take pride in their achievements. Pupils conduct themselves sensibly around the school because they know that this keeps everyone safe. Leaders deal with any incidents of behaviour that fall short of these high standards, including any bullying, swiftly and effectively.”
The school was previously also judged to be outstanding following a full inspection in June 2016. Ofsted said it expects to carry out a further, ‘graded’ inspection within one or two years.

As reported, Riverside Pre-school was also judged ‘Outstanding’ last year, as was Bitterne Park Primary in 2014.
Bitterne Park secondary School, St Denys Primary School and Portswood Primary are all currently ranked ‘Good’.
