The company is currently advertising for “bakers and retail assistants”.
It’s not confirmed whether the recently incorporated firm is related to the locally well-known ‘Plested Pies’ brand. There was an outpouring of nostalgia for the pies last week when a photo of the old city bus station, where readers report there was a Plested Pie outlet, was posted on the Southampton Memories: People and Places Facebook page.
Graham Cotton’s bakery closed due to health issues last June after what’s thought to have been 49 years. It was described as a sad occasion by many, and as the “end of an era” on our own Facebook page, with fond memories of the shop from times gone by expressed.
Plested Bakehouse was contacted for comment.
