A local folk musician’s tunes, inspired by local streets around her Midanbury home, are to be performed at the Church of Ascension in February.
As we reported last May, ‘Midanbury Tunes’, a music book by Jaquie Daniels, pictured above, presents eight original folk tunes for ensemble playing written over the last decade, inspired by local roads around our area, including Witts Hill, Vanguard Road and Midanbury Lane.
Tunes from the book will be performed by Jaquie and other members of the Southampton Folk Orchestra at concert from 7.30pm on February 11 at the Thorold Road church.
There will also be the opportunity to buy her book of music, which she says “may be of particular interest to folk musicians who play in groups and are looking for tunes with a local flavour”.
Read our previous piece, which includes an interview with Jaquie explaining how she came up with the idea.
Entry to the event is £5 on the door.
