It was aimed at encouraging children to read and explore the magic of books, with activities led by the Light UP drama group.
As well as workshops and games, the event featured a drawing competition, book quiz and raffle - and of course refreshments.
"Light UP drama ran some fantastic games and activities for children... It was lovely to see so many old friends of the library meeting lots of new faces, and it really showed the love that local people have for their library, which will hopefully open again soon," said a spokesperson for the Friends of Cobbett Road Library.
People using the Cobbett Road library on Saturday!
It was the first event hosted by the volunteer friends group since 2019, and went ahead despite the fact that Cobbett is still closed as a library while the council works through its lengthy process to find a partner to run it.
