An ‘ungraded’ inspection of Bitterne Park School has concluded there’s no change to its current ‘Good’ ranking – although Ofsted said the result “might not be as high” under a ‘graded’, more detailed inspection, which it says will take place next time.

It was the school’s first inspection since the start of the Covid pandemic, and took place on January 17/18, 2023.
Ofsted reported its team “talked to a wide range of pupils and observed their behaviour in lessons and during social times” at the school, which is attended by just over 2000 students aged 11 – 18.
They also reviewed information provided by the school and spoke with staff and pupils to gather views, as well as considering nearly 300 responses to an online survey.
The report quoted one parent as saying, “the teachers at this school work hard, and there is a strong commitment to raising kind and respectful young people”, and Ofsted pointed to a number of areas that the school does well, as well as identifying areas for improvement.
The full report is available from Ofsted’s site.
