The ‘Draft Local Plan with Options’ consultation took place from October 31, 2022, to January 3, 2023, and Southampton City Council (SCC) says it received over 1,000 comments through its new engagement platform 'Bang the Table,' which aims to make consultations more accessible, and a further 300 submitted via email.
Respondents focused mostly on the environment and housing policies, among 77 other policy options.
SCC says it will now review all comments and prepare the next draft of its plan for further consultation in mid-2024. It’s aim is “all about sustainable growth that provides the jobs, infrastructure, housing, green spaces and quality of life that our citizens deserve,” explained Cllr Sarah Bogle (Lab), cabinet member for economic development.
