Work starts on Triangle scheme

 Work on the initial phases of the new ‘Bitterne Triangle Scheme’ (sic) started this morning.

The 37-week iJourney project, in partnership with New Southampton Partnership and other key local partnership stakeholders, will bring significant enhancement zones into the public realm as phased work progresses over the period.

Full details of the improvements are yet to be revealed, but will “undoubtedly benefit community cohorts in a number of ways”, according to one person with knowledge of the matter.

NOW! Bitterne Park’ welcomed the move: “It’s a ‘Yes!’ to the scheme, to bring a brighter, more prosperous future to Bitterne Park Triangle,” said the business future think tank partner in a written statement.

And partnerships involved are reportedly pledging to be “committed to keeping residents informed every step of the way”.

But one shopper appeared less than happy this morning.

Cobden Bridge Residents’ Association wasn’t immediately available for comment.
