“[We] sing a wide range of songs spanning the decades and from a variety of cultures,” explained choir secretary Julie Goodman.
The performance will showcase songs they’ve worked on this year, including ‘Easy On Me’ by Adele and ‘One Day Like This’ by Elbow.
Bitterne Park Community Choir was born out of an adult education course which started in 2011.
Over 10 years later they hold their weekly rehearsals at a space in Ascension Church in Thorold Road every Wednesday during term time.
“Rehearsals are fun, light hearted and inclusive,” said Julie.
Potential new members are invited to come for a free taster session on a Wednesday evening at the church, with no auditions necessary.
The performance takes place on Wednesday May 24, 2023, from 7.30pm at the church.
While entry is free, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the group’s chosen charity National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS), an auto-immune inflammatory arthritis. There’s more information about the condition, and an online fundraiser, here.
