SVC Church, and City Mission which runs Basics Banks in the city, say they’ve never had to feed so many people as they are currently during the cost of living crisis.
They say they’re currently spending around £3,000 a month on food to keep their operations going.

Now they’re hoping to raise awareness and collect enough food donations to feed 100 families or individuals in need. They are encouraging people to donate items from the Basics Bank's most needed list, including tinned meat, fish, rice pudding, custard and fruit, toiletries, and jars of cook-in sauce.
Donations can be made at the Old Chemist at Bitterne Park Triangle on Saturday (May 13) from 10am - 2pm, where visitors can also see a totaliser rise - and even dress up as a tin of beans for a photograph.
