Southampton City Council’s leader and cabinet announced

As reported, Labour won the all-out election with a substantial majority over other parties.

The leader of the council remains Labour’s Satvir Kaur, and the other cabinet posts have been filled as follows:

Deputy leader and cabinet member for adults, housing and health – Cllr Lorna Fielker
Cabinet member for finance and change – Cllr Steve Leggett
Cabinet member for economic development – Cllr Sarah Bogle
Cabinet member for environment and transport – Cllr Eamonn Keogh
Cabinet member for children and learning – Cllr Alexander Winning
Cabinet member for communities and leisure – Cllr Toqeer Kataria

Meawhile the Local Democracy Reporting Service reports the appointment of committee chairs:

The council has six main committees, with each governing different areas of work such as planning applications, pub licences and health services. The new chairs will hold their position for the municipal year (2023-2024)

These are:
Scrutiny Overview and Management Committee – Liberal Democrat Councillor Richard Blackman.
Planning and Right of Way: Labour Councillor John Savage.
Licensing – Labour Councillor Mathew Bunday.
Governance – Labour Councillor Simon Letts.
Health Overview and Scrutiny – Labour Councillor Warwick Payne.
Children and Families Scrutiny – Labour Councillor Tony Bunday.
