Young people encouraged to help children read this summer

Summer Reading Challenge 2023 graphicThe city council is looking for enthusiastic and creative young people who are keen to listen and talk to children about their reading and encourage them to complete the Summer Reading Challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge is a national reading initiative which challenges children to read six books of their choice over the summer holidays.

Young people helping out will work with library staff and gain work experience and new skills by helping children keep reading during the summer holidays, the council says.
