It's understood the cordon, which we photographed around 3.15pm, was put in place on Monday (June 5), although the hole started to appear over the weekend.
Ward councillor Phil Webb (Lab) tweeted at lunchtime he'd been advised "a crew will be on site for works today".
Update 7/6/23: In an update on Wednesday evening Cllr Webb tweeted: 'Hole-watch: 72 Hours on If anything it looks bigger (and obviously not patched up yet!) So, update from the Highways team: “Southern Water are currently investigating their drainage, and we are awaiting a report back from them.” cc.@bitternepark [that's us!]'
