Co-hosted by Southampton Stand Up to Racism and local refugee charities, it will feature a fun workshop at 10am on West Quay Rear Terrace, a carnival parade starting at noon, and a picnic and entertainment session in the park from 1pm.
Performances include Chinese dance, a primary school dance, storytelling, a drama workshop, a football session and many others, listed on Facebook here.
“Refugee Week is an annual, UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary,” explains the Visit Southampton website.
“Through a programme of arts, cultural, sports and educational events alongside media and creative campaigns, Refugee Week enables people from different backgrounds to connect beyond labels, as well as encouraging understanding of why people are displaced, and the challenges they face when seeking safety.”
