Southampton City Council is stressing that if implemented its proposals will make the area “greener, safer, cleaner”; that “all car parks remain accessible”; that the area between St Denys Road and Westridge Road that will be closed to through traffic will remain “open to buses, bicycles, taxis and emergency vehicles”; and that the establishment of a “Highfield ATZ [Active Travel Zone] to prevent rat runs”.
There are a lot of misconceptions floating around about what exactly is being proposed, so if you want to check it out for yourself take a look at the council’s transport website - and/or go along to the drop-in and find out.
The latest phase of the consultation ends on October 1 and can be completed from this link.
