Woodies at the Junction is planning to breathe new life into the former Greene King pub on Priory Road, with an anticipated November opening and a menu ranging from breakfasts to evening dining.

The new leaseholders of the Grade II listed property already run Woodies Wine Bar in Netley – soon to be branded ‘Woodies at The Barn’ – and say they’d been looking for another site for over six months.
“So when we saw this place – it needed a little bit of love, a little bit of TLC – we looked into the history and it seemed like it’s been through a few owners in the last few years, so we wanted to put a bit of love back into it,” general manager Connor Miles, pictured, told bitternepark.info.
There will be a significant emphasis on food, apparently with the same menu in both St Denys and Netley.
They will offer their unique spin on individual tapas-style dishes, and say they’ll use fresh dough sourced from their Netley baker for their own pizza oven. Classics like fish and chips and burgers will also be available – as will fresh roast dinners on a Sunday, which Connor mentioned are consistently in high demand and often sell out at the Barn.
But customers will also be able to pop by just for a drink – real ale-wise Connor said they’ve moved completely away from former Junction brewery Greene King now.
Refresh taking place inside the former Junction Inn
“It’s all a bit ‘test’ because obviously it’s a small company, but my idea is to have an amber and a dark all the time as standard, and then to have a rotating guest one.”
The plan is to open from 10am, so everything from breakfast, hot drinks, lunches, and evening meals will be available, with the kitchen reopening from 5pm until 10pm in the evening.
Re-vamping the popular garden will be phase two, in time for next summer, possibly including an outside bar and even kitchen, as well as a refreshed play area.
Woodies at the Junction is at 21 Priory Road, Southampton, SO17 2JZ. It's hoping to open in early November.
