A local eight-year-old has raised over £700 for charity by growing her hair and then having it cut to be made into wigs for other youngsters who have lost their own hair.

Bitterne Parker Beth Iszatt said she decided to grow her hair long for charity so that children who have lost their own through medical treatments can wear hers as a wig.
She said it took “AGES” to grow her hair, but she finally had her big trim on Sunday (Sept 10).
At the time of writing she’s raised over £700 though a Just Giving page, which will pay for a wig to be made for a child.
“I am really happy that these boys and girls can have hair just like me!” she said.
Her hair was packaged up and sent to the Little Princess Trust, which offers complimentary real hair wigs to youngsters who have experienced hair loss due to cancer treatment or conditions like Alopecia.
It’s also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.
“I now have a very short bob – very different, but I love it already!” she said.
Dad Carl Iszatt told bitternepark.info: “Both [mum] Emily, her sister Poppy and myself are so very proud of Beth for what she has done! She has even said she is going to grow it again so she can donate more hair!”
