Emergency services were out in force on Saturday morning (Sept 30) after the discovery of a man’s body in the River Itchen by Riverside Park.
As well as a helicopter hovering above, four fire engines, five police cars, coastguard vehicles and boats on the river, plus six ambulances were reportedly seen around the Woodmill area.
Meanwhile police managed traffic flow on the bridge and set up a cordon around an area of the park, diverting walkers and cyclists from the river path near the back of the school, where they'd errected a tent.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.21am today, 30 September, after a body of a man was found in the River Itchen near to Riverside Park.
