A highways crew is understood to be "waiting for confirmation for granted access" before moving in to fix what appears to be a fairly deep sinkhole that has closed part of Bromley Road, Midanbury.
Article continues after this message...
The sinkhole was reported on October 14, according to social media, and the area was cordoned off soon afterwards in an effort to make it safe.
Since then people have posted online about the 'road closed' sign often being ignored by drivers, with calls for the road to be closed off at both ends.
One resident commented: ".I’ve lived on this road for 40years it’s constantly full of holes and all the council do is patch them".
Also on the Facebook thread, Bitterne Park councillor Phil Webb (Labour) wrote: "Have reported via my Cllr account hopefully that might speed it along, that said, the one on Bond Road/St Caths took about 6 weeks for Southern Water and Balfour Beattie [sic] between them ".
