Updated: The council has announced that Southampton's Itchen Bridge will close from 7pm on Wednesday (Nov 1) because of very strong winds anticipated from Storm Ciarán.

The storm is expected to bring very strong winds along the southern coast until Friday, followed by additional rain.
“This closure will remain in place until storm Ciarán has passed or when the weather significantly subsides,” said Southampton City Council.
“Buses will be redirected, please check with your bus operator website before travel and it is likely that other roads may also be closed in the coming days. We ask that if need to travel, check your route, and please travel with care,” the authority added in a statement.
