The leader of Southampton City Council has put out a call for more volunteers to help run the newly reopened Cobbett Road library in Bitterne Park.

Speaking from Cobbett Road during a regular video address to residents, Cllr Lorna Fielker (Lab) said she was pleased there were new partners, radio stations Awaaz and Fiesta FM, to take on the management of the “wonderful building”.
She said the library is run by volunteers supported by Southampton City Council, who she said are “the lifeblood” of the building.

Fielker went on to give thanks to the library friends group, saying: “I’d really like to give a heartfelt thanks to the Friends of Cobbett Road for their work over the years in supporting this building and supporting all the activities that have been taking place here. And we look forward to continuing that really good relationship with them as Cobbett Road Hub and Library moves into this next iteration of its life.”
