This 'modest proposal' envisions a metamorphosis of the site into a state-of-the-art theme park, aiming to bolster tourism in the city.
Available for signatures until August 4, it outlines plans for two rollercoasters, a compact water park, a 4D cinema, a monorail, and an underground system connecting to the railway station “and other cities”.
The petition also proposes collaboration with industry giants like Warner Bros Studios or The Walt Disney Company. Failing this, the suggestion is to join forces with established parks like Paulton's Park Ower, Romsey, or Legoland Windsor.
As the ePetition awaits signatures — 1,500 would be the number to trigger debate in the council chamber — Southampton residents are left to ponder the potential transformation of the Toy R Us site into a hub of entertainment.
And laughter.
